CONFERENCE KICK–OFF & CHAIRMAN WELCOME |
Brent Ho–Young kicked things off by stating that Canada is at a tipping point for the widespread adoption and growth of mobile financial services. He further opined that we are far removed from 2009, the year of the inaugural Mobile Money Canada conference, which represented a small, but promising, mobile money ecosystem in Canada. Brent and the DonRiver team referred to that period of time as Mobile Money 1.0.

Senior Executives from KPMG, Rogers & MasterCard provided their perspectives and answer to the question: Is Canada at the Tipping Point for Mobile Payments? Yvon Audette, KPMG Canada’s National Leader for IT Advisory Services, kicked off the track and provided an overview of the global and Canadian mobile payments landscape. Yvon touched on adoption barriers and opportunities as well as provided insight into the forces shaping the mobile payments market.

TRACK #2: Mobile Money Success Stories in the Developing World |
Mobile Money Canada 2011 delegates had the exclusive opportunity to network and learn from Michael Joseph; the former Safaricom CEO that built, launched, and grew Kenya’s successful mobile money transfer service, M–PESA – the only mobile payments system in the world to achieve scale. Michael’s session, which received high marks in the post–conference evaluation surveys, included entertaining and insightful stories and best–practices throughout his M–PESA adventure.
