John-Pierre Kamel
John-Pierre Kamel

JP Kamel is the leader of Excellis Consulting's Canadian Operations and the Director of their Global RFID and Serialization practice. Mr. Kamel brings over 9 years of enterprise strategy and solutions experience, primarily focused in RFID, wireless and mobility solutions. Mr. Kamel has been involved in multiple mobile enterprise engagements and strategy sessions with a wide range of clients, ranging from consumer products to utilities organizations. Additionally, Mr. Kamel has spent the past five years working with retailers, manufacturers, Transportation companies (including 3PLs)and distributors, across North America, in the area of RFID strategy, business case development, feasibility testing and solution roll-out.

Previously, Mr. Kamel was the RFID Practice leader for both VeriSign and Bell Canada, where he was responsible for all RFID sales, marketing, and delivery activities. Prior to that, Mr. Kamel was when Canadian Lead of the Mobility Solutions Practice within Capgemini (formerly Cap Gemini Ernst and Young), where he led projects in mobile strategy and business development for many of North America’s largest organizations.

Mr. Kamel also sits on several standards bodies and industry forums on RFID, including iNemi's RFID Working Group, ITAC's RFID Council, and EPCGlobal Canada's Strategic Advisory Council (the standards body for EPC based RFID). Mr. Kamel is currently the co-chair of EPCGlobal's Strategic Advisory Council and sits on GS1 Canada's Standards & Services Governance Board.

Amar Varma
Amar Varma

Amar has over 12 years of experience in the technology and investment arenas. Before joining EVP, Amar was a Director at VenGrowth Capital Partners where he focused on investments in the technology sector. Prior to that, Amar worked at a number of public and private technology companies in both Canada and the US including Jetstream Communications Inc., Cypress Semiconductor Corporation, ATi Technologies Inc. and Newbridge Networks Corp. Amar has a Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and is a graduate of the Venture Capital Institute sponsored by the NVCA.

Christopher Dean

Chris Dean currently manages Western Union mobile services within the Digital Ventures group. In this role, he works closely with mobile network operators in the development, deployment and marketing of mobile financial services in accordance with local regulations and requirements. Western Union mobile money transfer (MMT) services, which fall under the Digital Ventures umbrella, allow consumers to visit Western Union locations in the U.S., the U.K., the U.A.E., Hong Kong and Singapore and send funds directly to Smart Communications and Globe Telecom subscribers in the Philippines or to Safaricom M-PESA subscribers in Kenya. Western Union also has partnerships with mobile operators around the world, including Smart, Globe and Safaricom, and Orascom Telecom in the Middle East, Zain Group in Africa, Vodafone in the U.K., and Maxis in Malaysia. Prior to joining Western Union in 2008, Dean was a founding executive of a U.S.-based mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), which offered a Western Union mobile money transfer solution. Dean also has held software product management roles with Thomsonreuters and additional positions within the retail, consumer, government and legal industry verticals throughout his 20-year career.

Eric Feeley

Eric Feeley leads Telepin Software’s product management and has over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with extensive expertise in messaging infrastructure, mobile applications and internet communications technologies. Prior to joining Telepin Software, Eric was responsible for product management and solution architecture at Airwide Solutions where he managed a variety of next generation mobile messaging projects. Previous to Airwide Solutions, Eric worked in such innovative companies as InfoSpace and Watchfire. Eric holds a degree in Systems and Computer Engineering from Carleton University. He holds patents in the area of mobile information technology to enable third party content developers.

Frank Maduri
Frank Maduri

Frank Maduri is the President of the MTAC Group, a company that assists early-stage companies with commercializing new technologies and products. Frank has significant experience in both the telecommunications and financial services sector, having worked for companies such as Nortel Networks, Bell Mobility, Rogers Wireless and Mint Technology.

Frank has been a pioneer in the introduction of many innovative products and services, including several first-to-market launches. While at Rogers Wireless, he led the development and launch of services such as Blackberry, Text Messaging, WAP, mobile point-of-sale and mobile banking services. Most recently, as President of Mint Technology, Frank spearheaded the introduction of Canada’s first prepaid MasterCard and other mobile payment products.

Frank holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University.
